How to post text, photo & media files
.
After you’ve registered, at your registered email address you’ll get a password and a url-link to BURMA DIGEST site admin. Click on the link and sign in with the password. Then you’ll see the dashboard.
There on the tool bar at the top, you see “Write”. Click on it and you’ll get the writing pad.
It looks very much like an email compose box. And it works very similar to composing an email.
If you click on the “Show/hide advanced toolbar” button, which show more format buttons, you’ll get another row of buttons for formatting your text.
The functions of these new row of buttons are mainly for formatting, such as text style, text colour, etc.
If you want to know what a button does, you can place the mouse pointer on it, and the explanation will appear. Below is an example.
..
Posting an English article
You can post an English article either by
-
typing it in the writing pad as explained above, or
-
typing it in ”note-pad” in your computer and then copy&paste it into the writing pad.
..
Using Tables in your article
You can put a table in your article either by
-
using the “table” button on our writing pad, or
-
making a table in Microsoft word and then copy&paste from Microsoft word into the writing pad
But making the table first in Microsoft word is better because Microsoft word’s table features are far better than our table button.
..
Inserting photos in your article
You can insert as many photos as you like into your article. But please only use postcard size photos. Very big photos will not fit nicely in the webpage and viewers will have difficulty to download and view your photo_ especially readers with slow narrow-band internet connections will get into trouble.
You can upload photos by using upload box, which you can find below the writing pad.
It’s like attaching a photo to an email.
Once you’ve upload a photo, select “Show Full Size” option, “Link to None” option. And then click “Send to editor”. The photo will immediately goes into the writing pad. There you can move it around to make a lay out as you like.
..
Posting a Burmese article
For Burmese articles, please post as graphic/photo files.
You can make graphic files in Photoshop or Paint or Paint.net or any similar picture/drawing software.
You can type a Burmese article in Microsoft Word and then copy&paste it into Photoshop or Paint or any similar software.
You can download Paint.net from (http://www.getpaint.net). After downloading, when it’s being installed, it will prompt you to download Microsoft.Net frame, which is also free download. Download everything and install everything.
Then open Paint.net. Look up in its tool bar at the top for “Image”. Click “image” and find “Resize canvas”; resize your canvas to width 540pixel which will fit our webpages. And also find zoom+ and zoom- icons from the toolbar near the top. Make sure it is showing 100%, so that you’ll be seeing the actual dimensions of what you are doing.
Then find “A” in the left margin tool bar. “A” means add text. Click on “A” and then click on the canvas where you want to start typing; start from top left corner of your canvas. Choose a Burmese font of your choice from the formatting tool bar above your canvas.
Now you can start typing in Burmese.
When you finished one canvas, save it as a gif file in your my document folder/floppy disc etc.
Then open a new canvas and type and save, ……………………………. again & again.
Turn Burmese articles into graphic files first, and save them in your computer, and then upload them into our website, in the same way as uploading photos (see above).
..
Inserting a Video/Audio
First of all you need to upload your video to youtube or veoh or any similar video site; your audio to esnips or any similar audio site.
Copy the embed-code of the video which you’ve uploaded onto media-site (youtube/esnips etc), then come to our site admin writing pad, and click on “CODE” tab which you’ll see at the top of the writing pad above the toolbar.
Then, click on “VISUAL” tab, which you’ll find beside “CODE” tab; and you’ll be onto the usual writing pad. Then you can type in any text and captions for the video.
You will probably not see your video in the writing pad; but when our article is published later, your video will load & play automatically on the webpage for the viewers.
..
Publishing the article
If you are a new author, you’ll not find a “PUBLISH” tab below the writting pad; you can save just your post, then the editor(s) will approve it and publish it later.
If you are already a regular contributor, you can publish your post by yourself. You’ll find a “PUBLISH” tab below the writting pad.
