Terms & Conditions for Authors

                   As a purely volunteer free publication, BURMA DIGEST has to rely, to a very large extent, on the generous and kind contributions of articles, news-photos, etc. by the volunteer writers and reporters. BURMA DIGEST acknowledge the kind and generous help of all our journalist friends around the world.

                   But there are some guidelines for all contributing authors.

                   A clear indication about authors’ requirement to read these guidelines is described on the home page, and so when an author sends articles to, or posts onto, BURMA DIGEST website, it implies that the author knows and agrees to follow these guidelines _

  1. As BURMA DIGEST is a free publication to promote human rights in Burma, we cannot give “remuneration” for articles.

  2. As all article contributions are irrevocable voluntary-donations in nature, articles already published in BURMA DIGEST will remain in BURMA DIGEST web-archives and be available to public reading for an indefinite length of time_ no fees or honorarium will be given for that.

  3. Articles posted for publication in BURMA DIGEST must not be sent to any other media, journal, website, blog, forum, mailing groups, etc. at the same time.

  4. But once an article has been published in BURMA DIGEST for a while, the author can republish it in any other journal/media.

  5. Articles for BURMA DIGEST must be written with an explicit or implicit aim of promoting human rights in Burma, and around the world, by peaceful means.

  6. Articles must not contain personal attacks by name. Only one exception_ criticism by name on military regime leaders in Burma.

  7. Articles must not contain any kind of discrimination, prejudice or bigotry.

  8. Articles must not contain any insult to any race or religion.

  9. Articles must not contain any glorification of any form of terrorism.

  10. Articles must not contain obscenities.

  11. Articles can be written in any style_ essay, commentary, opinion piece, analysis, review, critique, satire, humour, poem, play, true story, etc.

  12. Articles can either be in English or Burmese language. Articles can contain photos, videos & audio files.

  13. English articles may be translated into Burmese, or Burmese articles into English, at any time by BURMA DIGEST editors or any person appointed by BURMA DIGEST editors.

  14. Any personal opinion expressed in the articles are the views of the authors only; authors have the sole responsibility for their personal opinions.
