I am an insignificant Burmese expatriate=even as my native country=Union of Burma is irrelevant to the international community.I am just one of the 55 million plus people suffering silently=at the hands of the Burmese military thugs. And now=may I take your precious time just to tell you my version of the story couple with my vision.
The one unmistakable message=which I like to convey to you is that=even though Burma was and is under the military Hunda for more than half a century=please do not construe that this country will always be forever under the rule of the military dictatorship?=One day, may be in the near future, who knows=the people may manage to throw up their shackles and free themselves from under the heels of the Burmese Military boots. Then the people of Burma will reminisce, who are our genuine friends for a “friend in need is a friend indeed.”
May I humbly address to the peoples of Western countries especially those residing in North America, the European Union, Australia and Japan particularly to the compassionate, sympathetic and those who are imbued with a humanitarian heart.
Currently=the repudiation of the profoundly flawed election with an equally dubious constitution by the Burmese Pro democracy leader=the noble, Nobel Laureate, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, clearly indicates that the whole country is behind her and that the people of Burma are now exceedingly united, more stronger than ever before,=and have unanimously and categorically denied the Military Hunda the legitimacy which they crave so much?
The very fact that these men in uniforms go to great lengths to hold theshamelections vividly paints the picture that these Generals wants to sit smart among the civilized International community. The entire people of Burma both Myanmar and non Myanmar i.e. the ethnic nationalities which forms 40% of the country’s population have profoundly denied this=and now it is your turn to deny them such a place and we greatly need your support.
If we look back at the contemporary History of Burma=a legally elected civilian government was installed soon after independence from Britain i.e. 1948 to 1962, somewhat similar to the Weimar Republic of Germany. Then there was a militarycoupby General Ne Win and theraison d’etrewas that the civilian government could not handle the ethnic crisis. It was not a big deal then, as new emerging nations from the former colonies in Asian and Africa are not so efficient and almost one third of the of these new nations have military coups. In neighbouring countries like Thailand GeneralSarit Tharanatcame to power, in Indonesia General Suharto, Pakistan Ayub Khan and so on.
Incidentally, it also coincides at the height of the Cold War. In spite of the brutal nature of the Burmese Honta and its abhorrence to democracy=the Western Countries like the United States, Canada, West Germany, France, Britain, Australia, and even Japan supported the Ne Win Regime with millions of dollars and military hardware to fight the Burmese Communist,=at that time was supported by Communist China.=But Ne Win squandered it with his, “Burmese Way to Socialism.” and when America shipped dozens of helicopters for the drug eradication programme they were systematically used to quell the ethnic cleansing programme and came to a stop only when one of them was shot down by the Karen. So also the European countries under the guise of companies and NGOs had indirectly help the military Junta.
Now even as I am speaking many NGOs=with the tactic approval of their respective governments, are funding the small ethnic political parties of Burma, to participate in thefalseelections.=knowing full well that thephonyelections in Burma will not hold water, if the mass of the people refuse to participate.
At this juncture,=when the NLD and the people has openly come out against the elections and has discredited the Honda, why are theses Western funding NGOs are trying to give some sort of semblance to this fake elections?=Is it only because their respective companies wants to continue to operate in Burma?=Why a double edge sword when North American and European governments have openly taken sanctions and other punitive actions against the Honda? If that is their hypothesis=they should better request their respective authorities to join the Sino Russian club in the UN Security Council in defending the Burmese Military Honda.
Several Western NGOs championing the ethnic nationalities cause are influencing the breakaway ethnic nationalities which tantamount to indirectly meddling in the internal affairs of one’s sovereign country. Some NGOs even go so far as putting their man,=A classic example is that in the National Reconciliation Programme,=the point man is a foreigner who could not utter a word of Burmese, not to mention the ethnic languages. How can he understand the psyche and rationale of the people of Burma?=Such an absurd actions is not conducive to wholesome morality and should be stop=now that the leader of the entire people of Burma Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has made her decision loud and clear. Please tell these funding NGOs not to connive with the Burmese Honda via a well known Burma office in Brussels.
“Hope, springs eternal in human breast,”=we know that the Burmese problem will have to be sorted out by the people of Burma themselves and as we prepared for the ultimate battle with the evil Burmese army,=please give us a helping hand,=at least a moral support.=The people of Burma and the world knew that there is no other way to speak to the Burmese Hitler, except by force, as they are anathema to Dialogue.
Not that we are eager to fight the ultimate battle=but because we love peace,=and that there is no any other alternative for the future of our children and children’s children that they should have a peaceful existence=save from the clutches of the marauding Burmese soldiers.
The blood of the ethnic nationalities is the same colour as that of the pro democracy fighter as fraternal brothers standing shoulder to shoulder for liberty, equality, fraternity Peace and Democracy
I don’t believe that any Western government will come with an army to help get rid of the tyrannical regime, even though our giant neighbours are helping the Honda with billions dollars worth of arms to fight the ethno democratic groups but what I would like to see is how you=as a conscious and responsible citizens of the civilized world will show your solidarity with the 55 million plus=suffering people of Burma.
Thank You

One Response to “An Ardent Appeal to the Peoples of the Western World”
passionate, forthright, moving appeal. but what way to proceed? NGO’s Non-Governmental Organizations) stand for individual constituents/backers, not necessarily for human welfare and human rights. UN is dysfunctional house of lords dominating parliament of squabbling nations. Embattled persons in this wide world need “GU” (Global Union). a constituent body-assembly, formed not from nations, but from representatives of all, young/old, migrants/aliens, women/children, workers/helpless, i.e. anyone who can and will give voice. Mechanism? Simple, obvious, and almost at hand! Mobile phones placed within reach of anyone who can call or text message. The call to assembly, “one person, one vote, one world.” anyone wanna help?
