Prof. Dr Pan Jiahua is the Executive director of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and member of the China`s Expert Panel on Climate Change. In other words he is the voice of the Chinese government where climate change is concerned and is representing China in the Copenhagen Conference on Climate Change. He gives a well rounded panel speech at the Conference and A Burmese delegate Prof. Win ask him.
“We believe in President Hu Jin Tao speech in new York that China is doing great things for the world`s climate. It was also very impressive with what you have said. But how do you correlate you rhetoric with Burma? China has sold $4.5 billion worth of arms to the Burmese Military regime and Burma being a poor country cannot pay the whole amount and have allowed the Chinese to cut down all the tropical forests of Burma to pay for it. This have a negative effect on environmental and the world’s climate. So how do you correlate with what you have said now.”
