NDF Statement on SPDC’s Act of Aggression
Aug 28th, 2009
1. We, the NDF, strongly condemn the SPDC military clique’s wicked acts of incursion into the land of
Kokant ethnic nationality, illegal search of the houses of Kokant leaders, sowing dissension and
interference in the internal affairs of the Kokant Army for political benefit. This act of the SPDC is not
only an insult to the Kokant national army but also to the other ethnic armies with which the Kokant
army has formed an alliance.
2. The act of hostilities, on various charges, by the SPDC army contingent against Kokant army led by
Pon Kyashin is similar to Mongoe, Palaung and SPNLO incidents where the SPDC created problems
for the elimination of ethnic armed groups. For that reason, we would like to sincerely urge the Kokant
ethnic nationality leaders to settle their internal affairs by peaceful means.
3. Armed aggression by the SPDC, against the Kokant ethnic nationality just because it rejected the
SPDC plan of transforming the ethnic armies into Border Guard Force, shows that the SPDC has no
policy to resolve the ethnic issues by peaceful means. Regarding the ethnic issues, the SPDC has
only the policy of force, annihilation and expansion of the civil war. The present hostilities are initiated
by the SPDC in spite of urging by neighboring countries to resolve problems by peaceful means, for
the sake of stability.
4. The SPDC is attempting to find a way out from the crisis, brought on by its unjust sentencing of Daw
Aung San Suu Kyi, the difficulties relating to 2010 elections and pressure from the Buddhist Sanghas,
the people, and the international community, by initiating acts of military aggression against the armed
ethnic nationality forces to gain political benefit. The present aggressive act shows that the politically
bankrupt SPDC is the culprit responsible for instability and lack of security in Burma. For that reason,
we would like to earnestly appeal to neighboring countries and the international community to prevent
the SPDC from committing aggressive acts.
5. In conclusion, we would like to say that there is no other way but for all the opposition forces, in
ceasefire or in active resistance, to open fronts on all sides against the common enemy, SPDC, and
struggle on politically and militarily, in various forms, for the collective removal of the fascist SPDC
military clique from power.
“We shall achieve victory through alliance!”
