To be able to lay down a winning strategy, Sun Tzu said we have to know the enemy and know ourselves. I feel that one of the main necessities is to know or identify the ultimate goal of the enemy (SPDC leaders) and the ideology of it.
The objective of the enemy is clear. To wipe out all oppositions, root and all. Their strategy is to use brute force and military might.
Is it easy to know about ourselves? We are disparate groups of democratic and ethnic groups (forces). Our movement is essentiallyNGO dependent and part of it is NGO driven. Depending on the NGO supporting us, we have different views and consequently different premises on which we base our strategies and tactics. Sometimes, some group even feels that its worst enemy is its fellow freedom fighters.
We have this difficulty, in addition to having to fight against opportunistic, ultra-democratic, provincial and dogmatic tendencies among us. So far, we have managed to form only loose alliances. If we are to beat the SPDC, we have to find a way to form colse-nit alliances and massive aid, as soon as possible.
