President of the Karen National Union Saw Ba Thin Sein passed away on the morning of May 22, 2008 at 2 a.m., in the liberated area of Pa-an District.

And we here express our deepest, most sincere and heart felt condolences for the passing away of a most respected leader of Karen nationalities of Burma.

According to the information from KNU sources, Saw Ba Thin Sein died of a natural diseases common in old age. He was 82 and survived by his wife, one son and three daughters. We share the sorrow and felt the sad loss along with the family.
