More than 1000 Activists from Amnesty International, Burma Point, the International Burmese Monks Organization, Columbia University Burma 88 Coalition, the New York Burma Roundtable, and the Burmese community made a  demonstration in New York City on April 11th in front of the United Nations to demand that the government of Burma immediately and unconditionally release more than 1,850 political prisoners, including Nobel Laureate and National League for Democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who remains under house arrest; and also to call for a UN Security Council resolution that reflects the concerns of its Presidential Statement on October 11, 2007.
