I have witnessed the same situation in the Royal Thai Police managed Immigration Detention Centre Suan Plu Bangkok.
In September 2009 I saw one little girl of about six years of age kept in a cell with about 250 men squeezed in. There was no room to lie down people had to sleep in the sitting position.
In January 2010 a young pregnant girl who had lost her passport was forced to give birth in a crowded cell without proper medical assistance in the IDC Bangkok, The Royal Thai Police would not take her to hospital or provide qualified medical assistance. Her only crime ' no passport'.
Every day consular staff from a multiple of Embassies in Bangkok visit the IDC in Bangkok. It seems their protocol is to avoid discussing the breaches of human rights surrounding their visits. There is a wall of silence when you confront consular staff from The British Embassy in Bangkok.
Violence committed within eyesight of detained children.....
A Kosovo man held for no passport was hit repeatedly in the head by a Royal Thai police man whilst having convulsions the day after he'd slashed his wrists in a suicide attempt in January 2010. His only crime 'no passport'.
A fifty year old Swiss man was beaten up by 10 Royal Thai Police officers in the IDC Unit Bangkok in January 2010. His only crime "no passport".

No living force of life on mother earth should ever suffer for a lack of food, or nourishment,or pride, or laughter, no child shall ever be without shoes, clothes, homes with loving parents or communities of keepers or guardians for the children need protection, they are all our responsibility, and they are the future of mother earth father sky, teach them love, and they become loving, nourish them as you would a rose, watch it blossom. All children are mother earths children, as animals are, plants, rocks and trees,We are One with the divine Great Spirit.

Dear Mr. Farooq,

Thank you very much for the extremely sad article about the imprisoned children of Burma in Mae Sot. These are our future generation, if they are treated in this way, God help our world when they grow up; one can only hope and pray that they will not grow up to be angry, bitter and broken people because of this cruel and barbaric treatment.
