I just read the translation (in dutch) of the book 'Little Daughter' of Zoya Phan, in which she tells the story of her family, I am 'glad' that I know now what is going on in that region... Too little is known about Birma, it has certainly taken my interest now.

More refugees should tell their story, so that more people know what great men like Padoh Mahn Sha stand for...

Another corrupt leader for us Karens dies. He had a nice house in Mae Sot and sent his son to college in the US. When KNU broke with BCP and helped the Thai army to track down allies of the BCP in Thailand, they distroyed our possibilities for freedom for generations to come. I am ashamed of all the corruption and lies from our leaders. We need to think about other possibilities, over a million of us have died already. For what? Ba U Gyi was not a prophet, how about setting new goals for ourselves?
We need to improve living conditions for our people, not to support the corrupt leaders who have been stealing from us for so long! The international community's hands are tied because of the burmese junta's trading partners. We have to face facts!

Padoh Mahn Sha was such a lovely man and a very strong leader for the Karen people. My sincere sympathy to his children and to the Karen nation for the loss of a father and leader.

I am writing to express my enormous shock on hearing of the brutal and heartless murder of Phado Mahn Sha. All friends of Burma and the Karen people are stunned with loss and anger. The democracy movement in Burma has suffered the loss of a major warrior for human rights and justice.

I met Phado Mahn Sha on a number of occasions in Thailand and was always moved by his integrity, sincerity, courage and humility. He was a valuable role model for his people and an unending source of inspiration. I am grateful to have known this fine and honorable man.

He is irreplaceable.

Sincerely and respectfully,

What a sad end for who has a beautiful heart. He is a simple man but full with new idea. He is a Buddhist but well respected by KNU which dominated by Christian Karen. He has never converted his believe to get a top position with KNU, but he made it. He was accused of leftist but he is a nationalist.

Lord Buddha wisdom with you Padoh
