“Hoodlums” — think of Burmese generals.
“Flights of fancy” — the way some people believe democracy will arrive.
“Things are a bit sticky at the moment” — describes the present circumstances of the democratic forces.
“To cast one’s pearls before swine” — you make concessions and deal gently with the regime, hoping it will soften.
“Not a jot nor a tittle” — what the SPDC intends to give the people of Burma.
“They will come to a sticky end” — if Than Shwe & followers do not soon change their ways, this will likely happen to them.
