THINK LIKE a BO ZOKE CHEE
..
_ by Baydin SayaRecently, Compatriot Bo Bo Kyaw Nyein wrote an article, “Are We Preparing Like SPDC Generals,” in Democracy 4 Burma in which he exhorted all Patriots to understand the thinking of SPDC generals and prepare for starting the revolution the way SPDC generals prepare for suppression of the same. His article was a Wake Up Call for all of us since very few of us actually know only but a few of the top generals and never think of thinking like them, much less prepare for revolution.
So, I began thinking like the enemy general, and the first thought I have is the reason for moving to the new Naypyidaw. Why?
With all due consideration, I really don’t think it is the officially-given reason, i.e., about defending themselves from US invasion. Than Shwe is, as styled by Bo Bo, an A-yoo-pah, a smart fool, a clever nut, and he is smart enough to figure out the US situation. BB gave supporting details in his article that the US is so tied up with the likes of Iran and N. (Monkey) Korea and might I add, Iraq and Afghanistan, and the domestic opposition to the War in the Middle East, not to forget the rise of the Hamas in Palestine. The SPDC generals realize that the US will not bother with a par-hmwar (small insect) like themselves which the US can crush in 3 days, much less than the 30 days it took in Iraq and the 70 days it took in Kosovo. That is because all our people would rise up when the first US forces land in Burma and take part in vanquishing the foe.
So the real reason SPDC uses the so-called threat of US Invasion is just like BB mentioned, to consolidate and motivate their own forces. I would further add that it is also to prepare them for a counter-invasion of Thailand, and for a counter-coup suppression of the people of Burma. ( the North (Myauk, Monkey) Koreans accused the South Koreans of invading them (a damn lie) and “counter-invaded” them while they were having a national holiday when most of the South Koreans were on vacation leave.)
In BB’s article, the first, second and third Priorities were the Fear of a US Invasion, Fear of a National Uprising, and Fear of Division among the Officers. Since SPDC knows the US won’t invade, I would suggest that the No. 1 Priority for SPDC is the Suppression of the People for fear of a national uprising. The military intelligence monitors and seeks out elements of opposition in regular culling missions and they train for future conflicts with the people, regarding them as the enemy.
The No. 2 priority is the fear of divisions among themselves. Last year, we saw the shuffling of the Generals among the major Commands in different parts of the country, thus effectively dissipating whatever local consolidations of power these junior generals may have accumulated in the past years.
In addition, the sending of Gen. Nga Moo, the no. 2, to Moscow to drink vodka a-wah-thauk, (to the fullest) and the sending of Gen. Depayin Soe Win to Peking to eat Pekin Duck and eat pork to the fullest, Wetthah-a-wah sah , is to ensure that the underling generals have enough power and privileges to keep them happily working for the topdog, Sr. General Bulldog Pugface. Of course, methods such as surveillance, officer evaluation reports, fear, terror and other mechanisms I don’t know of, are probably used to consolidate unity amongst the officer corps.
Backtracking to an earlier paragraph, the imaginary threat of a US invasion from the sea and the need to counter- invade Thailand serves a double purpose. Not only does it prevent division and disunity among the SPDC forces by providing a potent rallying point; it also prepares them to invade Thailand and plunder its riches as in the days of old. This is fast becoming necessary as the country rumbles along ever closer to total bankruptcy.
Priority no. 3 which is Cultivating International Support for SPDC, which is the real reason for sending Nga Moo and Depayin Soe Win to Russia and China. In addition, there is the “currying” of favor with India, and giving some fart to humor the little Asean Dogs. (Khway galay pyaw aung lay lair pyaht. Dogs will eagerly rush around the latrine bucket whenever a person climbs up the steps to the outhouse. The dogs wait for the stools to drop into the bucket so they can feast but they have to wait patiently, and when they hear some farts, they are trained in the Russian Pavlov way to associate the sound with their food, and become really happy.) Yes, each time an Asean leader is allowed to visit Burma, the SPDC generals are making them happy by giving them some bullshxx about making progress in Democracy when nothing has been achieved, only regression. I think that maintaining and promoting global support for SPDC is really important for them.
Finally, I’d like to suggest a fourth category which is Individual Fear of going to Hell and, more proximate, Fear of being Individually Deposed. (this is different from the wholesale breakup of the Armed Forces, which is Priority 2) This is manifested in the way each of the generals build holy pagodas inscribed with their names with their evil, non-Buddhist amulets buried inside the pagoda vaults, (sometimes with human sacrifices), and also in the way they donate alms and feasts for the holy monks, and the way they conduct occult witchcraft yeddaya rites, the latest audacity being the bigamous marriage of Mrs. Than Shwe, about 70 years old, to handsome actor, Lu Min, about 35 years old with the Old Man and Family tagging along for the Honeymoon on the Arakan Coast. This is SO bizaare, especially more so since Cyclone Malar followed soon afterwards, devastating the Arakan and other southern region.
Thus, SPDC has 4 Priorities based on 4 Fears.
1. Fear of the People BELOW (Let Auk)
2. Fear of their fellow Officers AROUND them (Nerbay)
3. Fear of International Condemnation from Superpowers ABOVE (A-htet)
4. Fear of the INTERNAL (A-Twinn)
So now, how do we make a start on our findings?
1. Because the Fear of National Uprising, we could encourage urban political guerillas to make fast, small demonstrations across the nation and leave evidence such as plastered posters and scattered pamphlets.
2. Because of Fear of Disunity Among Officers, we could recruit possible defectees by persuading the Military Attaches and Field Commanders to change sides. We could create rifts among the officers in the same divide and conquer philosophy that the enemy has used so successfully against us, turning tables on them for once.
3. Because of Fear of International Condemnation, we could use diplomacy and political activism to persuade this to happen, just like the way it happened in South Africa. After all, there, they had Wbite Apartheid against the Black People. In Burma, there is “Green Apartheid” against Brown People. In the case of South Africa, there was a world-wide boycott and demonstrations.
4. Because of Fear of Hell and Fear of Getting Deposed, we could consider destroying the pagodas built by SPDC because the evil amulets buried within are getting worshipped unwittingly by pilgrims and thus they are really paying homage to SPDC, just like Prince Thiha Babu was paying homage to his lion father by building lion statues at every pagodas. And we could use psychological warfare to prey on the minds of the generals and harp on what they fear most.
Also, by studying the enemy closely and knowing their routines and vulnerable points, we could commit sabotage and character
assassination..Comrade Bo Bo emphasized that it is important to think like an SPDC Bo Zoke Kyi, ellay, I mean, Bo Gyoke Chee, ellay, I mean, Bo Big Joke. All jokes aside, I think he is very right. First, he says we need to know who’s who, and I ask for help from fellow patriots to provide sources, better yet, for BD to set up a permanent section which should be called The Bo Zoke Watch, where each week, someone posts a serious, factual article teaching us something important about a particular general or a few of them, or a general General article. We really need to learn each of the personal foibles, scandals, successes, failures, promotions, demotions, personal lives, gossips, and families of the officers, starting with generals, but also colonels and other ranks as appropriate.
Why So?
I will quote a short excerpt from a late-fifties novel called the Ugly American where there is a fictional account of an American military attache, a colonel, who is posted in an imaginary Southeast Asian nation. He is very astute in the native customs, and spies on what the national president is doing. He learns about how the president has seduced a young woman, the daughter of a very important man, and wants to consult an astrologer on what to do next. (I may be a bit off on the exact details and so your corrections are welcome on the Comments Section below) The astrologer then says certain things must be accomplished to avert scandal. American colonel then arranges for those “certain things” to manipulate the situation adroitly. Unfortunately, the drunken Joe Bing, the idiotic crony which the Secretary of State appointed as the US Ambassador, appears on the scene to disrupt the situation, not realizing what is going on. Thus, the Colonel’s efforts are ruined and he gets really mad, reports the matter to the State Department, but is ignored.
This is just an anecdote to support Comrade Bo Bo’s assertion that we should learn everything about the Generals so that we can exploit the situation to our Machiavellian advantage. Hopefully, we will not be thwarted by the Burmese equivalent of drunken fools like Joe Bing, one of the ridiculous Ugly Americans in the novel.
