China’s Even-handed Policy on Burma

China blocking UN actions on Burma

16.11.2007: China, Burmese military junta’s main supporter, its main weapons supplier, its main natural gas buyer, and the main investor in Burma, has been blocking any US led efforts in the United Nations Security Council for any further resolution, statements or actions since it last allowed in September 2007 a very weak presidential statement by UN Security Council criticizing Burmese junta for its bloody crackdown on peaceful monks-led nationwide massive pro-democracy demonstrations in Burma. Because of China’s opposition, UN Security Council couldn’t issue its second presidential statement on Burma after UN Special Envoy Mr. Gambari’s briefing to UNSC about his second visit to Burma.

China vetoed down a UN Security Council resolution for intervention in Burma at the beginning of 2007.

China also watered down UN Security Council presidential statement on Burma in the aftermath of bloody crackdown by military junta on peaceful monks-led nationwide massive pro-democracy demonstrations in Burma in September 2007.

China urged Burma to speed Up Democratic Reforms

But, on the other hand, as a face-saving measure, Chinese deputy Foreign Minister Wan Yi on 16.11.07, at the end of his low-profile visit to Burma, said that he asked Burmese Generals to speed up democratic reforms during his meetings with Burmese Generals.

    Dear Folks,

China blocking every move made by the UNSC on Than Shwe’s military regime is no news today.
However, it is NEWS, when China calls on the rogue military regime in Burma to speed up the ‘democratic’ reforms in the country.
Don’t you guys get the message?
    Simple guys!
China is pushing Than Shwe to “FINISH” off Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all opposition alliances in Burma and set up his ETERNAL MILITARY RULE IN BURMA at the earliest and on the double. That’s what China meant to say only.
    Don’t you guys see?
China is the world’s largest COMMUNIST COUNTRY, right?
Now, how could it say to its LACKEY – BURMA – hey! you go democratic?
If you are a communist would you say to your friend or even your wife to go democratic?
Burma is China’s concubine now, don’t you know it yet?
If Burma goes democratic, then China’s going to lose all what it has in the country, and do you think China is oblivious to this fact?
The Chinese also eat rice guys like us. In fact, they also eat noodles too. Right?
They are smart guys. That’s why they are even holding the whole UN at ‘bay’ not to mention our guy in the White House, who can only mutter something like ‘please have some heart on the Lady and her guys boys’ . That’s all he can do. Just give lip service and nothing more.
I can give him some understanding given the fact that the guy in the White House is having his hands full with those terrorists in Iraq and worldwide embracing bombs as their passport and heading most probably, down somewhere, where someone has promised them four virgins for every guy who blows up the Americans to pieces. And at home also, he is barely living with that ‘doll’ in the Congress breathing down his neck and makiing his life miserable since she gets that chair in the Congress.
And I just want to strangle the Singaporean guys who says,
“Hey you guys in Burma, why don’t you switch people only, while keep going on the same road to the eternal rule of Burma?”
The coming ASEAN meet will be held in Singapore, and they are already blocking any show of disgust in Singapore, on the Burmese military regime. That’s what Singapore, is like today, no different from those rascals in Burma.
Do you know Singapore is also, under the dynastic rule of LEE KWAN YEW?
His son with a funny name is in his father’s shoes now,and running Singapore today. Tough luck for the other Singaporean guys too!
However, the Chinese communists think we are a dumb lot.
    That’s where they are wrong.
You look at it this way.
If the Chinese communists want us to get freedom and democracy, they could easily keep silent and let the UN do the job freely instead of blocking UN’s every move in the democratization of Burma in the first place.
Now only why are they saying ’speed up the democratization process in Burma’ ?
Some say, the Chinese are saying this because they are anxious that people migh undermine the Beijing Olympics in the summer of 2008.
That’s unlikely as far as I am concerned.
Nobody, not even our friend in the White House would dare to undermine the Chinese Olympics at the moment, much less, for Burma’s democracy.
Anyway, let’s continue with our job at hand without lending your eyes to the Pied Pipers of UN. If you do Burma’s democracy would be a long time coming!
Well, boys, I will have to wrap up at the moment now.
However, if you have any other idea I would be glad to read it.
Welcome aboard guys. Let’s talk about it some more. OK?

    Hi, George,
It’s very nice to read your comment.
In my opinion, China values its pipeline policy through Burma to her Province of Yunan than quasi-democracy in Burma or whoever rules Burma.
Look at the relationship between China and India, the biggest democracy and her regional rival now and forever. The Chinese Communist Politburo now has to push the panic button for its concern for oil.
Regional stability which China must emphasize for the sake of her future has been so far so good despite being still on the verge of collapse.
Of course, we need to do something effective for Burma’s genuine democracy by playing Chinese card.
