The 2007 Burma Day Conference was held at Eigtveds Pakhus, Asiatisk Plads 2 G, DK – 1448 Copenhagen K on Tuesday the 30th of October 2007 from 09.00 to 17.30.
The Burma Day Conference brought together government officials from Europe and Asia, representatives from civil society organisations working on Myanmar/Burma, researchers and academics and key UN representatives. The overall theme of the Burma Day Conference was “How to ensure Access to Education for all people in Myanmar/Burma”.
The Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Per Stig Møller opened the conference, followed by Mr Paulo Sérgio Pinheiro UN Special Rapporteur on the Situation of Human Rights in Myanmar/Burma who gave a presentation of the current political and humanitarian situation in Myanmar/Burma.
The presentations by Mr Pinheiro and the Minister was followed by three panel discussions on:

International cooperation promoting national reconciliation and supporting the democratisation process in Myanmar/Burma

Ensuring Access to Education for all people in Myanmar/Burma – experiences and challenges

How should the international community respond to the education needs of the Burmese people – opportunities and challenges?
