Trick or Treat for Mr Gambari

       The Halloween time is coming ahead. Many children from Western countries will celebrate their tradition by shouting “TRICK or TREAT” around their neighbor’s doors. In our case, nowadays, a child from UN, Mr.Gambari begins to wander from country to country (Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China and Japan) to look for an answer for Burma’s crisis in South East Asia and the neighboring countries. His last stop will be Burma. No one knows whether he will be tricked or treated by Military Junta for sure.

       Earlier, he was sent to Burma to stop the regime’s violent repression which never been stopped until today. On his return, Mr. Gambari had come up with a different story telling the world that Than Shwe did agree to talk with Daw Suu with some conditions which were unacceptable for NLD or any other politicians in Burma.  Even when he was in Burma the killings and beatings of the people were seen on the TVs everywhere in the world.The city like Rangoon was look like a deserted town surrounded by the military thugs.  May be, Mr. Gambari lying in a guest house provided by the regime without seeing or knowing what really was going on in Burma thought everything was settled. But, he did mention about the pro- regime rally by a bunch of paid or forced people. We are in very doubtful that during the timeframe between his visit to Burma and his report to the UNSC, Mr. Gambari never knew the ongoing harassments, arrests and killings in Burma. May be he might want to say that he did not have an access to cable TV, radio or internet.  But, his useless report successfully made the UNSC to write another useless paper so called statement giving the regime a breathing room to keep on killing its own people.

       It is not clear to say that whether he had failed or the world’s body had failed or all of them failed in this regard.  Anyhow, the helpless citizens of Burma are kept on suffering of the intimidations, painful interrogations, torture, illegal arrests and killings by the regime until today. In our recent article issued five months ago, we have already mentioned that Thant Myint Oo a Burma expertise of Mr. Gambari was vampirized by the vampire regime in Burma.  Now, his theory stressing the vital role of the military in order to protect the union of Burma was echoed by Mr. Gambari’s last week interview stressing that he did not want to see the Iraq like chaos going on in Burma without the military’s role in Burma’s politics. It is an insult for our ethnic groups, who have been seeking their self determination and equality for more than six decades, like these people have no knowledge of federalism that allows us to live in peace, harmony and pride.

        Anyway, it is not clear for the international community whether or not Mr. Gambari really believes that there is a way to do a power sharing between the brutal regime and NLD for him to negotiate or just a diplomatic ploy. But, when he was in Bangkok, U.N. envoy Ibrahim Gambari said on Monday that recent reports of dissidents arrested in Burma were “extremely disturbing” and called on the country’s military junta to immediately halt its crackdown. In his another toothless words, “It runs counter to the spirit of mutual engagement between the U.N. and Burma,” Gambari said after meeting with Thailand’s foreign minister at the start of a six-nation tour to seek Asia’s help in resolving Burma’s crisis. What was that for?  Is it a word to comfort the international community to alleviate its outrage?  Or, he wants to say, “Hey guys (the generals in Burma) don’t worry. Keep doing what you guys are doing.  Everything is OK as long as I’m around.”

            Did he already get treat from Myanmar Junta or trick? Or is he hoping to get treat instead of trick? Well, he should aware that Mr. Razali used to get candy with poison from them. Watch out Gambari, watch out!! This is your turn.
