External and Internal destructive elements and foreign media who are jealous of progress made in Burma by monks and pro-democracy activists towards freeing the country of tyranny have resorted to unrest and provoked the people into staging protests in the country.

It is understood that the external destructionist governments of China and the Russian Federation have acted in a totally irresponsible manner in encouraging the demonstrations in support of the terrorist regime, and in preventing the UNSC from issuing the necessary instructions to the SPDC generals to stop the slaughter of unarmed monks and civilians, and preventing the UNSC from taking the necessary action to intervene on humanitarian grounds and save the lives of those who are at risk of persecution and unlawful killing.

Foreign media like Xinhua have been promulgating the total fabrications and lies of the SPDC propaganda department issued by Propaganda minister Kyaw Hsan. It is very important for people not to be misled by killers in air waves – so don’t listen to MRTV or China’s state radio; beware, don’t be bought by these slickers! Xinhua; saboteurs, watch your step! If you want to know what is happening in Burma, then tune in to VOA, BBC, RFA, and DVB.

It is understood that 60,000 demonstrators embarked on a course of obstructing the emergence of a democratically elected government in Burma by voicing their support for the SPDC’s so-called ‘National Convention’ and its 104 principles at mass rallies organised by the SPDC. Those involved in these demonstrations include members of the SPDC, USDA, PSAS, MWAF, and other internal destructive elements. These groups have forced many people throughout the country to attend the rallies and chant slogans – under threat of punishment and persecution if they do not attend – is this how a ‘discipline flourishing democracy’ works? – by coercing people to do what they told to do by a minority of powerful thugs (those with the guns and cudgels)?

Anyone who is detained for his violation of law must be charged and is to serve prison terms if he is found guilty. This is according to the law of principles, for example, Crime does not pay; and Ignorance of law is no excuse. The followers of protesters cannot get a chance to be innocent if they break law even though their acts are for the cause of destroying democracy. This is because there is a motto: No man is above the law. Than Shwe – watch out, because this means you.

Monks are to follow Vinaya rules of the Buddha, rules and regulations and instructions. The SPDC seem to have become the authority on the Buddha’s teachings. We all agree that monks vow to follow the teachings of the Buddha. However, the rules and regulations that have been decided upon by the SPDC are not Buddha’s teachings. They are designed to enable the SPDC to control every aspect of the spiritual life of the sangha. It is perhaps time that the SPDC listen to their own words and take heed of the Buddha’s teachings, starting with the first of the Patimokkha vows – to refrain from killing.

Have discipline and sense of responsibility – these attributes have been shown in great measure by the members of the sangha and pro-democracy activists who have been protesting over recent weeks. It is now time for the generals and their lackeys to take their own advice seriously. Is it responsible to attack people in the streets and drag people out of their houses and monks from their monasteries for ‘interrogations’ and beatings, those who are calling for freedom and democracy; in a country riven by oppression and dictatorship? Where is the discipline of the troops in dispersing a crowd by wildly shooting at random at unarmed protesters, killing indiscriminately?

It is time to take the correct path – the path that leads to the peace and prosperity that Burma deserves – the path that leads to the release of all political prisoners and those under house arrest, the path that leads to a truly free and open dialogue between all parties in Burma, the path that leads to freedom from oppression, respect for human rights, free and fair elections, and an end to slogans and tyranny. The path that leads to a country whose government will earn the respect of the people and the international community, and not one that earns disgust and revulsion.

It is also time for the many countries that currently do a great deal of business with the SPDC – Russia, China, Thailand, India, Singapore, etc. to listen to their own consciences and not just grasp at their own wallets and their strutting about flaunting their self-importance, and trying to win influence and ‘image’. It is time for them to take their global responsibilities as world citizens seriously.

With Burma’s state media continuing the barrage of slogans and propaganda, coercing peaceful citizens into absurd pro-junta rallies, monks and others detained at dead of night and held in vile conditions, beaten, tortured and killed, NLD and DASSK cast as the national traitors and axe-handles causing all of Burma’s economic and political problems; the junta are not giving up – they are making ‘Mr. Nicey’ gestures to placate their Beijing patron’s desire for sweeping the Burma problem under the carpet and out of the world focus – they all want to get on with business as usual – so no change there. Constructive dialogue may only begin when the world speaks with one voice, and brings about genuine offers and a real movement by the junta.
