Until we see the land of hope.

When you walk into any Buddhist Temple or Monastery in Burma, you would be immersed in the strong emotional effect by its peace serenity and grandeur. Sadly, those were the days. If you visit them now, you would find yourself haunted inside empty temples and monasteries. In fact, monks were killed and Buddha’s blood has been spilled in consequence of the ruthless crack down on peaceful pro-democracy protests.
If there is one thing that the military junta is known for, it is its numerous violent and brutal crackdowns using automatic weapons on pro-democracy civilians. Moreover, they are also well known for terrorizing and bullying the residents by provoking house to house manhunts in the middle of the night after each crackdown. Thus, these are undeniable terrorist acts and the junta is a clear and present dangerous terrorist. The international community need to watch their dirty acts very closely for the stability and peace of the already too much troubled world. The military regime in Burma is in fact, a destabilizing factor for peace. What’s more. Can they go on like this forever?
No. For God’s sake, certainly not. It cannot go on forever. But for now it is still going on and the junta is playing the same tune as always used to play since they illegitimately seized the power in 1962 coup d’etat. They are still fooling about and playing tricks such as stalling time, beating about the bush, not honour their words and promises, telling half truth whole lies to pacify the international communities, breaching human rights to the worst level, etc, etc. Moreover, they are kissing “Pauk Phaw Gyi’s” (China) foot as they always used to do, so as to hold its iron grip tight and to have the UN Veto power indirectly through China.
Now, what can we do so as to knock some sense into their muddle heads? They only think of bullets, not ballots, to decide the future of the country. Do we need to open up the heads of junta’s 1/2/3/4/5…. and put inside the intellectual and rational philosophy to convince them that they need to talk with the people to move forward diplomatically? Do we need to lecture them that talking to someone does not equal to appeasement? However, we must try to knock some sense into their heads and show that our “memories are not short”. Let them aware that we will remember “7 July” “8888″ and this “2007 Bloody Red September” everyday, always and forever.
In addition :-
UN need to press on Burma with efforts for reconciliation and a peaceful transition to democracy until satisfactory results are achieved.
On the other hand, Asean should warn the junta of possible suspension of membership if they are thinking of playing the same tune forever. Asean must review its “No isolation policy” if it does not work.
Similarly, Japan should review its aids and donations to the government of military junta for the sake of Kenji Nagai who was brutally killed by the junta’s dogs. The aids and donations from Japan should be stopped unless the junta shows sincere changes.
EU has expanded its ban on imports of Burma’s timber and gems and visa for members of the junta. Bravo! Many thanks. Should ban visa for their family members and close associates also.
What about China and Russia? Would they want to understand and share the feelings and sufferings of the people of Burma on the streets? Only God knows. But we are certain that the ordinary people of China and Russia will definitely understand and share if explained to them what happened in Burma just a few days ago.
At the end of the day when the storm is over, there always is a calm sea. The people of Burma must keep on sailing until they see the land of hope.
