Benevolence of the New Generation

Birth of a new ’88 generation
Young architect for the new era
Is being chronicled in history
With renewed force and vitality

Compassionate and with conviction
Without discordant pride, or, provocation,
Demonstrating only humility and measured dignity
The words of Min Ko Naing, the conqueror of king
Penetrate like a diamond pin, admirably

Be generous and compassionate
For the sake of our country
And cooperate harmoniously
With delicate discourse
You and I should contemplate
Supporting
The hopeful causes of our nation

“Peacock flying over Burma”

The great magnificent Peacock of Burma has risen
With all its glorious crimson courage and shimmering golden ring
Way above the spire of Burma’s horizon
Flying with the inevitable coming of the new dawn
Appearing once again in the darkest hour of our longest nightmare
Like the lions of the Sahara
The majestic, emerald Peacock rules the blue sky above Burma
With grace that defy thunder
And dignity in the face of bitter struggle
Friendship and camaraderie in the midst of smokes, death and paranoia
He is and will be
Carrying on the choruses of our cry for freedom
Continuing the anthem of our defiance
No matter how long
No matter what it takes
For he knows there is no turning back
We are what we are
Peaceful but fiercely independent
Stubborn but loving
Disciplined but generous
Committed but not ambitious
Cautious but brave
Humble but strong
The great, spectacular, emerald Peacock of Burma has once again risen above the ruins of our land
With the cry that
It is time
To end all our sorrow, sadness and hatred
In our ancient, gentle and beautiful homeland
