Interesting history of fighting each other

Burma was once ruled by Shans or cousin of Thai in Ava. Shans invated Ava in 1364. Shans succeeded the Pagan dynasty. Ava flourished until destroyed by a rival group of Shans in 1527. In 1634 it again became the Myanmar capital. Part of Burma Rakhine was also sometimes under the influence of India.

Chittagong city was given that name by Burmese conquerors. So part of Bangladesh was under Burma for some time in history.

Siamese kingdom of Ayuttha, established in the mid-14th century. The Toungoo Dynasty established control for a short time over the states as Ayutthya, Lan Chang (Laos), and the Chinese Shan states. After Ayuthaya fell in 1767 to the Burmese, Thomburi was the capital of Thailand for a brief period under King Taksin.

Colonial History

Britain conquered Burma and incorporated into its Indian Empire.Burma was administered as a province of India until 1937 when it became a separate, self-governing colony.

Britain conquered India and Bangladesh was part of British India together with Burma.Later when got independence in 1947, it separated from India as part of Pakistan. Bangladesh came into existence in 1971 when Bengali East Pakistan seceded from its union with West Pakistan.

A unified Thai kingdom was established in the mid-14th century. Known as Siam until 1939, Thailand is the only Southeast Asian country never to have been taken over by a European power. A bloodless revolution in 1932 led to a constitutional monarchy. In alliance with Japan during World War II, Thailand became a US ally following the conflict.

Independence

26 March 1971 is the date of independence from West Pakistan, 16 December 1971 is known as Victory Day and commemorates the official creation of the state of Bangladesh

Never totally lost the country to any foreign power

Type of Government

Chief of state: Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) Sr. Gen. THAN SHWE (since 23 April 1992)Acting Prime Minister, Gen THEIN SEIN (since 18 May 2007)
Cabinet is overseen by SPDC; military junta assumed power 18 September 1988 under name State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC)

Chief of state: President Iajuddin AHMED (since 6 September 2002) as caretaker government.Iajuddin AHMED remains as President and Minister of Defense, and all other Cabinet portfolios are held by Caretaker Advisers (CAs); the Chief CA, Fakhruddin AHMED, is roughly equivalent to a prime minister

Constitutional monarchy King PHUMIPHON. The current (Ratthanakosin) era of Thai history began in 1782 following the establishment of Bangkok as capital of the Chakari dynasty under King Rama I. In 1932, a bloodless revolution resulted in a new constitutional monarchy.

Constitution

The first Constitution was abolished by General Ne Win in 1962 coup. His new Constitution was also suspended since 18 September 1988.A SHAM National convention convened in 1993 to draft a new constitution but collapsed in 1996; reconvened in 2004 but does not include participation of democratic opposition

The government is a secular parliamentary democracy which has been suspended under emergency law since January 2007.

Since the overthrow of the absolute monarchy in 1932, Thailand has had 17 constitutions.Throughout this time, the form of government has ranged from military dictatorship to electoral democracy, but all governments have acknowledged a hereditary monarchy as the head of state

Latest Coup

8888 revolution, Myanmar Military coup, SLORC and SPDC history is well known.

In 1975, Mujib and his family were assassinated by mid-level military officers.A series of bloody coups and counter-coups in the following three months culminated in the ascent to power of General Ziaur Rahman. He was assassinated in 1981 by elements of the military. General Ershad gained power in a bloodless coup in 1982 and ruled until 1990.

Prime Minister THAKSIN Chinnawat was overthrown on 19 September 2006 in a coup led by General SONTHI Boonyaratglin,The junta abrogated the constitution, dissolved Parliament and the Constitutional Court, detained and later removed several members of the government, declared martial law, and appointed one of the King’s Privy Councillors, General Surayud Chulanont, as Prime Minister.Martial law was partially revoked in January 2007. The junta continues to censor the media and was accused of numerous human rights violations.

Latest Conditions

Instead of buying or evaluating the gasoline or compressed gas price with their official Foreign Currency exchange rates and selling to the people, SPDC calculated illegally with black market rate and increased the prices few folds.
That leads to escalating of all commodity prices. This leads to peoples’ protest.

In January of 2007, following widespread violence, a caretaker government was appointed to administer the next general election. The 2006 election was postponed indefinitely and emergency law declared in January 2007 as the caretaker government of Fakhruddin Ahmed aims to revise the voter list and crack down on corruption. The government aims to hold new elections by 2008 but the two leading candidates, Zia and Hasina, are facing criminal charges in court. The caretaker government claims to be paving the way for free and fair elections to be held before the end of 2008.The interim government now running Bangladesh is doing so with the backing of the military, which ruled the country throughout the 1980s. The military-backed government is enforcing a curfew imposed by to quell unrest by students demanding an end to emergency rule. The protests began when University of Dhaka students called for the removal of an army post from the campus.

19 September 2006 after coup; interim constitution promulgated on 1 October 2006; coup leaders have promised new constitution by end of 2007.The new constitution has been approved by a referendum on August 19, which will lead to a return to democratic elections in December.

SPDC cowardly tried to cheat the whole world and the people of Myanmar by using their affiliated Kyant Phut, Swan Ah Shin and their various forces in mufti as the counter protest or reaction of the ‘people’ supporting the military government.

But as the head of Kyant Phut is Senior General Than Shwe, he is responsible for all the atrocities committed by those military affiliated ‘people’ or thugs.

When I saw the news pictures of the atrocity of the present Bangladesh police, I wish that our Burmese People could have recorded all the atrocities of those SPDC affiliated thugs.

Look at the above picture. The sole, thin university student has no weapons to protect or harm the police. And he was not confronting but running away from them. There are dozens of Police, well equipped for defense as well as attack. The nearest police is stout and strong. Just look at his face and Biceps muscles of right arm, you could clearly notice the amount of hatred and abuse of power on the unarmed civilians by those people in power. They forgot that their salaries are provided by the people’s tax money. But almost all those armed forces from military and police behave like blood-thirsty HOUND DOGS, when ordered by the dictators.

I hereby thank the AP photographer who had successfully captured the bullying of the arm forces on the powerless people.

I feel that the police in the picture represents SPDC, Senior General Than Shwe, General Ne Win and General Saw Maung. And the poor university student also represents our 88 student leaders. Present Thai Military is also notorious for its brutality on its opposition especially in south.

Yes, Than Shwe , SPDC and Myanmar Military, you are much powerful than unarmed Burmese people. But the power and wealth you have is unlawfully taken by force from the people. There is no difference between all of you and the armed robbers or thieves. If you are not shameful, continue to rob the people and payback in the hereafter or Sansara.

Myanmar Tatmadaw personals, Kyant Phuts, Swan Ah Shin, their relatives and friends robbed the country’s coffers by getting the chance to buy all the household commodities, luxuries, unfairly valued with the official FE exchange rate. So for them all the things are cheaper. During the SPDC Generals, wives, families and friends’ “official” foreign trips for shopping, sightseeing, medical examinations and treatments etc. they could buy the Foreign Currency with official exchange rate.

Some of the world’s economic experts from the World Bank and IMF’s false advise and claimed that Myanmar Military must stop fuel subsidies are short-sighted. They are declearing as if SPDC is doing the right thing. Myanmar people’s very low earning power, even ridiculously lower if converted into foreign currency, at the black market exchange rate must be considered. So, to force the whole population, including the poor low earners, to use the vitally needed commodities like petrol or gas according to the blackmarket exchange rate is totally wrong and is a nonsence. In the first place, SPDC is wrong to allow the existance of the two kinds of exchange rates. SPDC Junta allowed it or keep the unreasonably official higher value for their benefits is morally and legally wrong and is the main cause of all the present problems.

It is time for the Myanmar Junta to get help from the NLD led opposition and the world community. They should release all the political prisoners immediately, call for the dialogue, start a National Reconciliation process, share power with the people of Myanmar especially the NLD led opposition, who are trusted and voted by the people. Ethnic minorities and religious minorities should also be included to solve our country’s problems and to really start a true democritization process. And also it is the right time for the UN and the world to take actions and apply full pressre on those Military Thugs.

The Death Knell For The Top Military Rogue in Burma

Today marks the 19th anniversary of the military takeover of Burma when the late Saw Maung leading the then State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC) seized the power of the country via a bloody military coup killing thousands of people, including the students and the clergy , on September 18, 1988, in the midst of a nationwide uprising for freedom and democracy.
The SLORC reneged on its promise to return to the barrracks when the National League for Democracy (NLD) won the May 27, 1990, polls by a landslide victory and continued instead to strengthen its grip on power. The NLD was severely cracked down and there are more than a thousand political prisoners including the leaders and members of the 8888 Generation Students still languishing in prisons of Burma. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Tin Oo, Vice Chairman of the NLD, are still held under house arrest and incommunicado since May 30, 2003, until today, without specific charges laid other than to ’safeguard’ their personal security, a pretext in fact and practice, as the military rulers fear Burma freedom fighter and world icon of democracy’s immense popularity in the country and among the international community.
Ignoring to settle the root cause of today Burma’s dilemma, political imbroglio, stemming from the ruling military’s continued refusal to honor the results of the 1990 elections won overwhelmingly by the NLD, today’s ruling military rulers in Burma are embarking on a collision course, which will ultimately spell doom for their already sinking ship.
Today the SPDC’s rudderless ship is heading towards the jagged reefs and soon it will founder and rest at the bottom of the sea forever.
Drunk with power and weapons and thugs at his disposal and calling Than Shwe has been bluffing all the way until today. Given his very limited education, much less the knowledge of the ways of life, the military despot is heading to his ignominious and fitting end, the way of a scoundrel and a thief, like his late mentor Ne Win, who died and was deprived of a last resting place even.
Hiking the price of fuels has fuelled the peaceful living populace of Burma into showing their already deep-rooted disgust on the military thugs lately. Peaceful and noiselessly marching people have to cry for help and strive for survival when thugs and hoods – members of the military backed Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) and Swan Ah Shin – descended upon them and manhandled the people at will, as worldwide publicized; the police and others responsible for keeping law and order were nowhere to be seen at the time of the brutalities.
This is an archaic ploy – divide and rule – employed by the generals in Burma, pitting one another, and sowing enmity and hatred among the people, thus, keeping them disorganized and preventing them from getting UNITED.
The military thugs are very apprehensive of UNITY or SOLIDARITY among the people, knowing very well that they are powerless against PEOPLE POWER.
In that regard, they will go to any extremes to affect DISUNITY and ENMITY among the people. Hence, they are employing thugs and hoods, in place of police or military personnel, responsible for keeping law and order in the country and preventing the people from taking to the streets.
Than Shwe has sounded his DEATH KNELL, when he hit the brick wall – the Buddhist Clergy – with his shit-filled head. He has made his ‘mother of mistakes’.
According to the prevailing situations at hand in Burma, Than Shwe has stirred an “HORNET’S NEST” (Buddhist Clergy).
Now he has met his deadly NEMESIS, the Buddhist Clergy, refusing to DISOBEY his orders!
In case, the military despot chooses to “PUSH HIS LUCK”, he will certainly meet his “WATERLOO” this time.
A word of caution, in despise and disgust for the top military rogue in Burma,

YOU HAVE SOUNDED YOUR DEATH KNELL AT LAST!
AND IT IS PAYBACK TIME FOR YOU NOW!

The Buddhist Clergy, students and the people are watching for your demise in SILENCE.
