Letters to Editor

Last October a North Korean vessel arrived Thilawa Port of Burma and unloaded weapons onto military trucks. That night Thilawa area and Rangoon was blacked out by the authorities and the weapons were transferred to unknown destination, according to a reliable source in Rangoon.  If it is true, this is a very very important issue that the world community should raise it until the military junta admit and identify what was the weapon the North Korean had imported.  The weapon  can be missiles with nuclear warheads, speculated by analysts in Rangoon.  Who knows?

Pro-regime Development workers residing inside Burma, including the sons and daughters of the top brass had just completed the Development Training course at the Chiangmai University. This was initiated by formerly pro-democratic former Burma Fund Researchers in cooperation with the Burmese Embassy in Bangkok. The training lasted four months with visiting scholars from America.
Interesting news is that Development training invited pro-democracy writer and journalist of Sayar U Tin Maung Than to give a special lecture yesterday. But on arrival of U Tin Maung Than, the sons and daughters of the SPDC Generals protested and they did not attend the class. The organizers were not happy.

The military regime of Burma has added another disgrace on itself by painting more unpleasant picture of their own. Â In the same time, the junta seems to have a big regret for inviting a team of reporters from Al Jazeera English, based in Kuala Lumpur.
Mission accomplished for the reporters whereas the junta really disappointed that their wish did not came true.
“We asked to go in, and some months later they eventually agreed. Â To them, Al Jazeera English is an unknown entity. Â But they were hoping for a hearing an avenue to get their view across,” said Derl McCrudden, news editor of Al Jazeera English.
The team of journalist was invited to the new city in Pyinmana area where they were allowed to interview with the Information Minister of the junta.
When the reporters arrived back home they begun to write about the true picture of Burma they have seen. And, without fail, they illustrated  how the people suffer under the harsh military rule.
Though the team was prevented by the authorities to film numerous time and they were prohibited from meeting anyone in their own, they were indeed fortunate to have the opportunity to report from the country about the real situation of Burma.
“One Golden rule of journalism is to be true yourself,” said the news editor of Al Jazeera English.
Through Burma Digest I give a big salute to the courageous and true journalists of Al Jazeera English who also managed to meet people and take photo of the pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi’ s house in the mid of restrictions put on them by the authorities in Rangoon.

See how good is lives for top brass in Burma. Â They do not need to worry about anything. Tons of rice, gallons of cooking oil are ready for them as for basic consumer food. Â Accomodation. Â Do not worry. Â Construction businessmen are ready to provide them very good house with modern style and completed with every facility. Â Prado, Land Cruiser are also ready for them, presented by the businessmen like Tay Za. Â Money problem. Â The top brass never ever face it hitherto. Â Money is flowing smooth into their houses as long as there are businessmen and entrepreneurs who are “yes men”.
The top brass are also smart.  They have  business minds.  They have their own business, run by their sons or daughters or close relatives. Since a top brass owns two three estates, one or two of their estates will be found leasing to foreigners who come to the land of zombie for opening businesses.  Those foreign businessmen, who have leased the housing or estate of the generals, are given first priority special chances in doing business with Burma.  The clever investors never loose this chance and only end up with their business run into bankrupt. No problem for the top brass.  They are always the winner.  The junta is staying long in power because of the businessmen who are money launderers and drug lord , business tycoons like Tay Za who helps buy weapons and ammunition for SPDC and businessmen like Zaw Min who will never haste to entertain round the clock to the top brass.  So our people who love democracy must aware that  columns of the junta are not far away but close to you and they are off guarded.  Let’s  find ways and means to firstly destroy the cronies and followers of the military junta. Step by step. Slow and steady win the race.
